Get Dogs Eating With Honest Kitchen Foods

When our dogs won’t eat, we desperately wish they could tell us why. Hey Fluffy, are you sick? Too tired? Bored of the same ol’ same ol’? How to stimulate a dog’s appetite is a hot topic around here, and we’re always looking for new ideas.

Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Dog Food Thrive 4 lb. BoxIf your Tripawd won’t eat and you’re worried about her not getting enough nutrients, consider trying dehydrated foods made by the Honest Kitchen. We tried it when Jerry wouldn’t eat, and it worked really well. Although this food is primarily a plant-based product and isn’t specifically made for dogs battling cancer, when you’re desperate to get your dog to eat anything, this is a great short term solution.

The Honest Kitchen’s dog (and cat) foods are made with 100 percent, human grade quality ingredients. From free range chickens to organic quinoa, you’ll feel good knowing your dog is eating real, high quality food that’s certifiably safe for human consumption. The Honest Kitchen doesn’t use preservatives and uses a gentle dehydration process instead. This means all of the enzymes, vitamins and nutrients in the ingredients remain intact throughout the process.

Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Dog Food Embark 4 lb. BoxBecause Honest Kitchen foods are dehydrated, you’ll need to add water and wait about 10 minutes before serving. But that’s all it takes to serve your Tripawd a healthy, nutritious dehydrated raw food diet! If our friend Luke of 2Dogs2000Miles found it easy enough to feed to Hudson and Murphy throughout his epic journey to end canine cancer, we know you will too.

Recently the Dog Food Advisor assessed Honest Kitchen’s foods and gave them his highest rating of five stars. One of the reasons they earned five stars was because “all the products contain chelated minerals… minerals that have been chemically attached to protein. This makes them easier to absorb. Chelated minerals are usually found in better dog foods.”

The only thing he didn’t like about Honest Kitchen was the relatively low amount of protein found in their foods. However, of the six that you can choose from, the Thrive and Embark lines have a more generous meat content than the others, which also makes them better suited for dogs battling cancer.

  1. I use these foods on Maggie! I use Preference, Thrive and Embark as those are the lowest carb contented one’s WITH added raw meat to them. I do not feed without added protein.
The carb levels in each withOUT adding more protein is:
    Embark 17.87%
    Thrive 19.6%
and Preference WITH adding meat – as this one has NO meat in the mix:
Preference 15.9% using 95% lean beef 1:1 mix OR 10.6% carbs 95% lean beef mixing 2:1
I mix the Embark and Thrive 1:1 (the most you can for those mixes). I mix Preference 2:1 to get lower carbs.
I go for foods that keep the carbs 20% or less…less is best! 😉
